Executive Vice President-Public Finance Department
Even when he was graduating from law school, Charles Stavitski envisioned a career in public finance.
“I knew as I went on that I really didn’t want to practice law and didn’t know how good I would have been at it,” said Charles.
He joined municipal securities broker-dealer Roosevelt & Cross Inc. in 2007 on the recommendation of a family friend and has risen to executive vice president in its public finance department, working out of New York City.
Working at the firm, he said, puts him at the intersection of investment banking, law and government policy.
“People change jobs at a lot of places, but people stayed at Roosevelt & Cross,” he said. “It’s one of the last kind of firms on Wall Street that’s entirely employee-owned.”
He holds an undergraduate degree from Georgetown University and a law degree from Quinnipiac University.
His efforts have cemented the firm’s position as the most active underwriter in New York State.
Charles “is always a pleasure to work with,” said Douglas Goodfriend, a partner at Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP. “His great attention to detail and ability to explain complex financial options always benefits my clients.”
Charles derives much personal satisfaction from helping smaller issuers navigate the capital markets.
“At Roosevelt & Cross, we pride ourselves in our support of local communities in New York that are too small for our competition,” he said. “We help these communities finance or refinance their debt.”
Charles has lectured on public finance topics through the Municipal Bond Club of New York’s annual bond school. “It’s a good way to educate people and give an introduction to newer people in the community,” he said.
He competed in the New York City triathlon, participates frequently in marathons, triathlons and enjoys golf.
